Faßmann's words must be followed by action without delay!
During yesterday's budget discussions in the National Council, Federal Minister Faßmann assured that he would implement the increase in funding for university places at universities of applied sciences set out in the government programme.

"We are pleased with this pledge, as Federal Minister Faßmann is clearly expressing that he is finally taking the dramatic loss in value of funding for UAS study places seriously. The funding of teaching at universities of applied sciences is his responsibility as Minister. It is now important that words are followed by deeds and that the budget for the necessary increase of at least 10 per cent is made available immediately and without further delay," says FHK President Raimund Ribitsch.

Yesterday's deliberations in the National Council were preceded by a clear appeal from the FHK, which also addressed the members of the National Council in a press release and asked them to support its demand for an increase in funding rates. Several members of the National Council responded to this appeal and supported the FHK's demand. The introduction of a motion for a resolution by the Chairman of the Science Committee, Dr Martin Graf, for a 10 per cent increase in FH student place funding in the 2020/21 academic year was also important.

"Federal Minister Faßmann, you have taken an important step with your assurance. Prove now that you really take your responsibility for the funding of teaching at universities of applied sciences seriously," concluded Ribitsch.
