Mission statement

The Fachhochschul-Konferenz is the mouthpiece of all Fachhochschulen in Austria and promotes communication between its members. As an association, we appreciate the active interest of our members: programme directors, heads of colleges, rectors and the universities of applied sciences, represented by their managing directors.

As an interest group with a high degree of assertiveness, we depend on the trust of our members, who appreciate and use our activities. Important research and education policy issues - but also financial and legal framework conditions - can thus be coordinated quickly and in a solution-oriented manner.

Our tasks - We represent interests

As education policy experts and contact persons for the higher education sector, we have a primary mission: we represent the interests of our members at national and international level. Through networking and negotiations with ministries and authorities as well as regular media work, we achieve the following goals:

  • Improving the financial and legal framework
  • Uniform standards and transparency in the higher education sector
  • Efficient public relations for image building

We develop strategies

Our task is to draw up and further develop strategies for the entire UAS sector. They form the basis for the demands and suggestions that are continuously communicated to politicians by the representatives and the general secretariat of the FHK.

We present the universities of applied sciences to the public

We pass on the practice-oriented, modern understanding of education of the UAS and its teachers to the public and the media - that is the benefit of our active media work. It is aimed at interested parties and students as well as teachers, future employers and research partners.

Both comprehensive developments and daily political topics require media statements: We achieve the necessary media presence through regular media contacts, newspaper supplements on special topics, press conferences, background discussions with journalists and numerous interviews in daily newspapers and trade magazines. In this way we strengthen the concerns of the Austrian FH in public.
