Once again, the Austrian universities of applied sciences can be pleased about an excellent result in the CHE ranking, in which students rate their universities in various survey areas.
This year, the subject groups computer science and nursing were assessed. Eight universities of applied sciences took part in the ranking with a total of 41 degree programmes that were evaluated. The universities of applied sciences achieved the highest scores in the areas of "Studyability", "Degrees within a reasonable time" and rooms. The points "contacts with professional practice" and "support at the start of studies" were also rated very highly.
The fields of computer science and nursing were last ranked in 2015. It is noteworthy that the universities of applied sciences have improved considerably in the areas of "practical relevance" and "completion within a reasonable time". "This shows that such rankings at universities of applied sciences are followed by action, which leads to continuous further development and improvement of the degree programmes," says FHK President Raimund Ribitsch. According to Ribitsch, the very good results in the field of nursing, which is a relatively young branch of study at Austria's universities of applied sciences, should also be emphasised. Ribitsch therefore sees the transfer of healthcare and nursing to the university sector as a clear success.
The CHE University Ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking of German and Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences. The ranking is compiled using a sophisticated Methodologywhich, in addition to facts about studies, teaching, facilities and research, also includes students' assessments of the study conditions at their university. In addition to comparative criteria, prospective students have access to a wealth of descriptive features on study programmes and teaching.
