FHK on UAS expansion: words must now be followed by deeds!

In view of the results published today in the daily newspaper "Die Presse", the President of the FHK, Helmut Holzinger, goes into raptures: "The students mostly ranked their degree programmes in the top group. Top results were achieved above all in the areas of "studyability", "support during studies", "rooms" and "infrastructure". In the fact check, it is pleasing to note that both Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes achieved top results for the requirement "Completion within a reasonable time". Virtually all of the programmes for which this area was surveyed were in the top group."

In view of these excellent results, Holzinger shows little understanding for the government's hesitant attitude when it comes to the further expansion and the promised 100 million for the funding of the universities of applied sciences sector. He emphasised: "The performance and high quality that the universities of applied sciences have once again demonstrated in the rankings should be reason enough to further expand this well-functioning higher education sector and finally send out a visible signal. If more students are to be offered a place at a university of applied sciences in future, as planned by the government, a clear signal is needed in the area of funding. This is the only way to achieve a shift in student numbers from universities to universities of applied sciences in the medium to long term. We need quick commitments from politicians in order to be able to start planning the expansion. The government must act now by making the promised 100 million available!"
