Austria loses a visionary of higher education

"Erhard Busek was without doubt one of the most important personalities in science policy, who set the course for a modern and contemporary higher education system and thus for the universities of applied sciences in Austria with vision and foresight," emphasises FHK President Ulrike Prommer. "During his time as Minister of Science, he was the architect of the University of Applied Sciences Studies Act, the legal basis that led to the establishment of universities of applied sciences in Austria in 1994. With his vision and innovative spirit, he laid the essential foundations for application and practical relevance in academic teaching and research. We will sorely miss him!"
