Programme contains many important and forward-looking measures for FH/HAW
The Austrian UASs perceive the government programme as pleasing and forward-looking. Many important structural measures that the Austrian University of Applied Sciences Conference (FHK) has repeatedly urged are finally being tackled. Now implementation must be swift!
"The government's plans primarily include an improvement in our financial planning security. In addition, and this is particularly pleasing, for the first time research is also explicitly taken into account financially. Another positive aspect is the strengthening of our university autonomy in the management of degree programmes and the establishment of new courses. This gives us more flexibility and the opportunity to react more quickly to the needs of business and society," says FHK President Ulrike Prommer.
"One milestone is the establishment of a doctoral model for UASs. This will be examined using the example of existing programmes at UASs abroad," President Prommer continues. This passage should be seen in conjunction with the industry-related dissertations also included in the government programme, which are intended to establish cooperation between science and industry based on application. These programmes are tailored to the FH/HAW, as they ideally reflect their profile. The most important thing now is to implement this point quickly and lose no more time in order to quickly resolve the structural blockade of recent years.
