Loss of an outstanding companion, supporter and long-standing partner of universities of applied sciences and universities of applied sciences (FH/HAW)
"Claus Raidl has worked with great energy and drive for the FH/HAW and has always emphasised its important role in the Austrian scientific landscape. As a top manager and outstanding personality, he recognised, shaped and promoted the great importance of the FH/HAW as a partner of business and industry in research and teaching," says Ulrike Prommer, President of the FHK.
From 2001 to 2006, Claus Raidl was President of the University of Applied Sciences Council, the predecessor organisation of today's AQ Austria, which was responsible for external quality assurance at the FH/HAW. In this role, he played a key role in shaping and developing the FH/HAW during one of its most important development phases.
"Claus Raidl made a significant contribution to the FH/HAW establishing themselves as application-orientated, effective higher education and research institutions and today they are an integral part of the Austrian science sector. We remember Claus Raidl as one of our most important and influential pioneers. His work will remain unforgettable. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to his family," said Kurt Koleznik, Secretary General of the FHK.
