Austria urgently needs this strengthening of the domestic science centre through doctoral opportunities for the FH/HAW sector.
Making research and innovation usable for your own country
The FHK would like to express its thanks for the strong push and support for the introduction of the doctorate at universities of applied sciences (FH/HAW), as recently demanded by the two education and research-strong federal states of Lower Austria and Vorarlberg. The provincial governors Johanna Mikl-Leitner and Markus Wallner have addressed a press release and a corresponding letter to Federal Minister Eva-Maria Holzleitner (see Coverage on ORF.at).
"We are very pleased about the positive signals and support the rapid implementation of this necessary development for the entire sector. The introduction of the doctorate at UASs is not only the order of the day, but also a simple, fast and secure way for Austria to expand career opportunities for researchers and increase Austria's competitiveness. Keeping application-oriented knowledge and innovations in the country must be a concern for all of us, especially as this is already common practice in other countries," emphasises FHK President Ulrike Prommer.
Everything is ready, the only thing missing is rapid implementation by the ministry
All UASs successfully conduct applied research and make a valuable contribution to strengthening the Austrian economy. economy.
K. Koleznik, FHK Secretary General, sees the demands from Vorarlberg and Lower Austria as representative of many other stakeholders and the entire FH/HAW sector, who have been campaigning for this for a long time. "They have created a nice framework for the whole of Austria, which only needs to be filled with a legal basis," he says, describing the current situation: "It couldn't be simpler."
From experience and infrastructure to concrete implementation proposals, everything is ready at the UASs. Now is the time to stop wasting time and resources!
