More transfer-orientated research funding is needed!

The recently published evaluation of the programmes of the Christian Doppler Research Association (CDG) Josef Ressel Centres (JRZ) and CD Laboratories shows encouraging results. The results for the JRZ in particular emphasise the positive correlation between the use of funding and the output generated. Research conducted at JRZs thus has precisely the effects that the programme is intended to pursue.

UAS President Ulrike Prommer commented: „The strong publication output, the high number of dissertations and the intensive cooperation with industry and society clearly show that UASs are conducting excellent, transfer-orientated research. Results have a direct impact on practice and teaching - this is knowledge transfer in action. It is precisely this performance that confirms our demand for independent doctoral programmes in the UAS sector.“

„Especially in geopolitically tense times, targeted investment in application and transfer-orientated research at UASs is needed. The close collaboration with industry is a key advantage of the location: innovations are created directly in cooperation with companies and are applied without any detours. This strengthens competitiveness, value creation and resilience in the long term. It is now up to the federal government to make consistent use of this lever - through reliable funding for teaching and research and the creation of independent, industry-oriented doctoral programmes in the UAS sector,“ demands UASK Secretary General Kurt Koleznik.
