FHK and IMC FH Krems invite you to the 11th University of Applied Sciences Research Forum 2017

Research is the basis for further development and innovation. With implications for people as individuals and for society and the economy as a whole, the question of values plays an important role in research.
From 19 to 20 April 2017, the Austrian University of Applied Sciences Conference (FHK) and IMC FH Krems are organising the 11th Research Forum of Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (FFH) under the motto "Research - Innovation - Value".

On two days in April, decision-makers, opinion leaders and leading personalities from the domestic research and political landscape will gather on the campus of IMC FH Krems to exchange views, give presentations and discuss the latest research topics.

The programme includes sessions in parallel tracks, networking and a boat trip as a social finale to the first day. Keynote speeches will be given by Dr Harald Mahrer, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy, and Prof. Dr Antonio Loprieno, Chairman of the Austrian Science Council.

On the second day, there will be a panel discussion with the head of the responsible section in the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy, Barbara Weitgruber, Dr Henrietta Egerth, Managing Director of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), Prof. Dr Reinhard Kögerler, President of the Christian Doppler Research Association, Prof. (FH) DI Dr Johann Kastner, Head of the Research and Development Committee of the Austrian University of Applied Sciences Conference (FHK) and Doz. Dr Birgit Reipert, Senior Manager R&D Shire (enquired).

The Research Forum will conclude with the award ceremony and presentation of the flag by Prof. (FH) Dr Karl C. Ennsfellner, Managing Director of IMC FH Krems.
"As educational institutions, our overriding principle is to conduct research with a view to creating value. However, future-orientated knowledge acquisition must always include a high sense of responsibility, which must not be overshadowed by the thirst for knowledge and the idea of progress," says Ennsfellner.

Aims of the research forum
The Research Forum of Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences (FFH) is a platform for presenting the diverse research activities and results of Austrian universities of applied sciences. A very diverse research landscape has successfully developed in the UAS sector across disciplinary and geographical boundaries. Year after year, the FFH impressively demonstrates the efficiency of the application-orientated research activities of the universities of applied sciences.
"The impressive development of research at universities of applied sciences vindicates us. This year, we will once again use the Research Forum to highlight the requirements needed to continue this positive development. Topics such as sustainable funding for research and the authorisation to offer externally quality-assured doctorates at universities of applied sciences will also be included in the political debate this year," says FHK President Dr Helmut Holzinger.
