Following a large-scale image analysis among the general population (sample size of 3,200 respondents), which has already produced outstanding results, the results of a management analysis commissioned by the Conference of Universities of Applied Sciences (FHK) are now also available.<\/p>\n
As with the general population survey, the management analysis (sample size 1,090 people) was carried out by the Institute for Empirical Social Research GmbH (IFES). The survey was conducted as part of the reader analysis of decision-makers launched by IFES.<\/p>\n
General image<\/strong><\/p>\n Austrian universities of applied sciences not only enjoy a very good reputation among the population as a whole, but also among managers in companies. More than three quarters (76%) of the Austrian managers surveyed have a (very) good impression of universities of applied sciences, 67% of universities and 64% of vocational colleges. Compared to the other two educational institutions surveyed, universities of applied sciences therefore scored best among decision-makers.<\/p>\n With approval rates of 80% and more, the good career prospects, proximity to industry and practical relevance are perceived as particular strengths of universities of applied sciences.<\/p>\n The organisation of studies at universities of applied sciences (admission procedure, completion in a specified time, limitation of study places) meets with a similarly high level of approval among decision-makers as among the population: 83% find this tight organisation (very) good (population survey: 86%).<\/p>\n In terms of career prospects in particular, the managers surveyed see university of applied sciences graduates as having a clear advantage: 74% believe that university of applied sciences graduates have very good career prospects and only 54% see corresponding opportunities for university graduates.<\/p>\n FHK President Raimund Ribitsch was delighted with the high level of approval from managers: \"This survey underlines the great importance of UAS graduates for the Austrian economic area and must be seen as a mandate to a future federal government to quickly tackle the 10 per cent increase in funding rates demanded by the FHK, which has become essential for maintaining the high quality of universities of applied sciences.\"<\/p>\n
